Pablo Picasso
75x62 cm, sheet size
In January 1962, Picasso created several beautiful linocut portraits of Jacqueline Roque, whom he had married in 1961, wearing a straw hat. This print is the first in the series and, with its free interpretation of the motif, is considered one of the most important graphic works from this period. Two preparatory drawings exist (Zervos, Volume 20, 196 and 197).
